We are a unique home furnishings retailer and design company. Exotic Home is a direct designer, manufacturer and importer of fine home furnishings and accessories.

Owner Mike Day established the business in 1991. He began importing textiles, carvings and some furniture. As he realized the need for quality furnishings in the area, he began to focus his efforts more on furniture. In the last several years, the business has evolved into a very unique home furnishings company. The design staff at Exotic Home has been involved in creating some of the most unique homes along the East Coast.

We have two retail locations. Our Kill Devil Hills retail store and showroom is located at milepost 8.5 on the bypass in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Our newest location is in downtown Norfolk, Virginia at 819 Granby Street. Exotic Home also has the largest in-stock warehouse in the area, which houses over 20,000 square feet of furniture, antiques, upholstery, artwork and accessories.

The owners of Exotic Home travel around the world and personally select each item. This ensures that only the highest quality products make it into our stores. We also design, manufacture and import our own full line of custom home furnishings. We oversee the process from design to delivery. As a manufacturer, direct importer and retailer, Exotic Home is uniquely positioned to offer you the quality, variety and affordability that you simply cannot find anywhere else.

All of our furniture is made from solid hardwoods. The craftsmanship of our wood furniture is the highest quality in design construction and materials. Our production lines are carefully managed and quality-controlled to ensure consistency. We also import many one-of-a-kind pieces, British Colonial and Asian antiques and unique accessories. These furnishings tell a story and will be around for generations to come. Today’s marketplace is filled with particleboard, veneers and paper backings, which can never be refinished. Our furniture is timeless and very durable. In addition, our custom upholstery and accessory lines are selected with the same high quality standards. Our design staff will custom design your home to be distinct using these unique and fascinating pieces.

A house package is a unique design plan for you and your home. Your plan is created based on your individual taste and needs. Your personal design team will listen to your ideas, make suggestions and create a design plan for your home. Our house package clients will be automatically enrolled in our Preferred Builder Program, which entitles you to special discounting and design assistance.

Living areas will have durable upholstery or leather seating, occasional tables, accent chairs and area rugs. Dining areas will consist of tables with coordinating chairs and barstools. Bedrooms will include bedroom furniture and accent pieces, mattresses with pads, bedding and pillows. All areas of your home will be uniquely accessorized. Some of our accessory items may include accent furniture pieces, wall décor, silk plants and flowers, decorative lamps, accessories such as picture frames with vintage photos, books, pottery, baskets, carvings, shells, clocks and nautical artifacts. Free professional design services, delivery, set up and clean up are included.

Our company trucks and staff provide free door-to-door delivery, unboxing, set up and placement. Protective pads will be placed on the bottom of furniture and accessories to avoid scratching of floors and furniture. In addition, our designers will be on site to hang wall décor, place lamps, dress beds and add the finishing touches to your home.

We work within your budget to give you the most for your investment. The cost is determined by your budget, the size of your home and your needs or objectives. We promise to give you the most for your money. Our direct importing gives us this advantage over our competitors.
